Exterior Building Murals

An exterior mural is the only advertising you buy once. It works every hour of every day, it can't be scrolled past, and in Florida sun it will outlast most signage if it's sealed properly.

Designed to be read from the road

A wall seen at forty miles an hour needs different design decisions than a wall seen from six feet away — bigger shapes, higher contrast, fewer competing details. Long roadside walls get composed so they resolve at driving speed and still reward a closer look.

Every surface behaves differently

Stucco drinks paint. Block has a texture that swallows fine detail unless it's filled. Corrugated metal has ribbing you design around rather than fight. Brick needs the right primer or the color sinks. Getting the prep right is most of what makes an exterior mural last.

Prep, primer and base coat are quoted as separate line items so you can see what your particular wall requires.

Sealed against Florida

Sun, salt air and afternoon storms are what kill exterior paint. Finished work gets a protective clear coat, and anti-graffiti coatings are available for street-facing and alley-facing walls so tagging can be cleaned off without damaging the artwork underneath.

No scaffolding on most jobs

I own my ladders and work from them wherever height allows, which keeps a rental line off your quote and shortens setup. Genuinely tall walls may need a lift, and if so that's quoted openly rather than buried.

What it costs

Exterior and interior murals are priced per square foot, with prep, primer and protective coatings quoted as separate line items so you can see exactly what you're paying for. Interest-free payment plans are available, including 12-month terms on larger jobs. Full pricing is here.

Common questions

How long does an exterior mural last?+

Painted with artist-grade exterior paints and sealed with a protective clear coat, an exterior mural should hold its color for years in Florida conditions. Direct all-day sun and salt exposure are the hardest cases, and that's what the clear coat is for.

Can you paint on stucco, block or brick?+

Yes, along with wood, vinyl siding and metal. Each needs different prep, which is quoted separately so you can see what your wall actually requires.

What about graffiti?+

Anti-graffiti clear coats are available as an add-on. They let tagging be removed without stripping the artwork underneath — worth it on street-facing and alley walls.

Do you need scaffolding?+

Usually not. I work from ladders on most jobs, which keeps rental costs off the quote. Taller walls may need a lift, quoted openly if so.

Do I need permission or a permit?+

That depends on your municipality and whether the wall faces a public right of way — and on your landlord if you lease. Rules vary by city, so check with your local code office before commissioning work. I'm happy to supply a design rendering for a permit application.
