Mural Artist in St. Petersburg, Florida

St. Pete takes murals more seriously than almost any city in Florida, and the bar for public-facing work here is high. I've painted building exteriors, interior corridors and architectural glass in the city.

Working in St. Petersburg

Projects here have ranged from full commercial building exteriors — oversized portrait work and integrated wayfinding across a facade — to an interior corridor carried the length of a hallway, to figurative work painted directly onto an angled glass skylight structure.

That last one is a good example of what this city asks for: an unusual substrate where the design has to work with the mullion grid rather than ignore it.

A city that rewards good walls

St. Pete has a genuine mural culture and a public that photographs it. A business here that commissions a strong wall is buying into an existing habit — people already come downtown to look at painted buildings.

That also means a weak mural stands out for the wrong reasons, which is why I design to the specific building rather than dropping in a stock scene.

How it works

Photo of the wall plus rough dimensions gets you a real number. Concept approved before paint. Exterior work sealed with a protective clear coat, with anti-graffiti options for street-facing walls.

Questions from St. Petersburg

Do you paint building exteriors in St. Pete?+

Yes — full facades, entrance walls and street-facing elevations. Exterior work is sealed with a protective clear coat, and anti-graffiti coatings are available.

Do I need permission to put a mural on my building?+

That depends on the building, whether the wall faces a public right of way, and whether you own or lease. Rules vary by municipality, so check with the city's code office first. I can supply a design rendering for any application.

Can you match an existing brand or building color scheme?+

Yes. Brand colors, logos and lettering are routinely built into the design, and you approve the concept before anything goes on the wall.

Do you work on unusual surfaces?+

Yes. Alongside stucco, block and brick I've painted on architectural glass panels, corrugated metal and faux-brick paneling. Prep is quoted separately based on what the surface needs.
